Tend one part of the room
A seasonal check becomes manageable when it has boundaries. Pick one cube, one wall, or the area around your turntable. You are looking for drift: records in temporary piles, an overcrowded run, or notes that no longer describe where things live.
Move slowly enough to notice what the collection is asking for. Sometimes the answer is a little more shelf space; sometimes it is simply returning three records to the place you already chose for them.
Correct the useful mismatches
Your archive does not have to be a museum inventory. Correct the mismatches that could make a real decision difficult: a record listed but no longer on the shelf, an arrival that never got a location, or two copies that need different notes.
Leave deeper research for another day. A simple 'check pressing later' note is more honest—and more useful—than abandoning the whole maintenance session to chase a matrix number.
Close with a listening invitation
Choose one record you rediscovered and make time for it. The archive is working when a maintenance task returns you to music, whether that means a private evening or a future Record Room shaped around a small story.

Useful questions
A little reassurance before you begin.
How often should I do this?
Seasonally is a gentle default, but the useful frequency is the one that keeps your archive readable. A smaller monthly pass can work just as well.
Should I update every condition note?
No. Update a condition note when a change matters to handling, insurance, a potential duplicate, or your own memory of the record.
Keep going gently
